King Street is one of the most important thoroughfares of Manchester For much of the 20th century it was the centre of the north west banking industry but it has become progressively dominated by expensive shops instead of large banks.

It used to be Banking Centre of the city, Its sitting pretty With solid buildings And Masonry lovingly carved, So Its not hard
To love this street As your pounding your feet To a Mancunian beat Take a look around Its Sound as a pound Used to work in the building on the left Then I left, A call centre worker working hard in this back yard Now its full of shoppers Expensive shops surround you, Trendy bars Full of stars Cars and taxis buzz about As the day fades to night Its alright, On an autumn night, Yeah King Street Manchester It used to be Banking Centre of the city Its sitting pretty With solid buildings And Masonry lovingly carved, So Its not hard To love this street As your pounding your feet To a Mancunian beat On King street Life’s at full beat
